Benefits of lavender essential oil

Lavender is one of the top essential oils to stock in your medicine cabinet at home. It is antibacterial and rejuvenating.

It’s proven to be highly effective for use on the skin – for burns, scars, cuts, bug bites and bee stings. I heard a story of someone who used it on third degree burns on the arms and was left with no scarring.

I have used it on my child who has eczema with good results. It can also be used for acne.

It’s powerful for calming the mind and body and for relieving anxiety, overcoming insomnia and improving sleep and mood.

You can mix 20 drops of lavendar oil with a cup of Epsom Salts for a relaxing bath.

I use essential oils when I massage clients so they feel the benefits.

Amazing testimonial

This is why being a Sizzling Minerals distributor is so worthwhile:
The Benefits of Sizzling Minerals
I am 37 years old. From birth I have suffered from a Bicuspid aortic valve and therefore as a young child I had to undergo yearly to three yearly hospital admissions and lots of tests. Now at this age I still need antibiotics when I undergo serious dental treatments or am seriously injured.
Just a year ago when I went for my normal checkup, my cardiologist told me that there had been some changes in my aortic root which had dilated to 4.9 cms. If the dilation grew to 5.5 cms I would have to consider a very risky surgery.
I dislike any kind of surgery and since I have been taking Sizzling Minerals and had another test done a week ago, I can tell you that my aortic root is down to a healthy 4.4 cms. S van den Heerik, Bournemouth

Libraries Week and reading in Newton Abbot

This week is Libraries Week – a chance to celebrate all that libraries mean to us. For me a library is not only a place for discovering new authors but it’s also where I can use the computer for no charge, buy a cup of tea and hear writers read their new books.

I shall be reading at Newton Abbot library this coming Saturday (14th) as my first children’s picture book has just been published. It’s called ‘Donna and Dermot on the Move’ and captures the story of a girl and her dog and what happens when they move house. The theme is mindfulness.

I am really looking forward to being part of the library’s Active Mind, Active Life annual programme of activities.  Active Life Active Mind is a celebration of all the things libraries do to support health and wellbeing across Devon.

There are so many things going on – relaxation and yoga, craft groups, art clubs, coffee mornings, Scrabble challenges and free drop in advice sessions to name but a few. Check out what’s happening in your local library. The programme continues throughout November.

I will be teaching a simple five minute routine to boost energy at this October’s Holistic Wellbeing Festival next weekend. Find me at 2:30 pm on Saturday 14 October in the Civic Hall for this 45 minute FREE workshop. Handouts will also be provided.

Also I will be showing you the new wearable technology that is creating a buzz in the health and social care and health and fitness world – Helo LX.

On World Mental Health Day on 10 October I will be at Totnes Library at 4 pm to read and sign copies of the book. Also come and meet Donna and Dermot’s soft toy characters as they will be there with me.

On Oct 14th I will be at Newton Abbot Library reading and signing as part of the library’s Active Life Active Mind annual programme of library events focused on health and wellbeing which is now in its fifth year.

Runner Up in the 2017 Centre of Excellence Awards

I have just found out I have been awarded the Runner Up award in the Inspiration Category in this year’s Centre of Excellence Awards – wow!

I studied naturopathic nutrition with the Centre and this has changed the lives of myself, my friends and family and my clients in deep ways.

This is the feedback I received from the Centre of Excellence:

“Thank you for taking part in the 2017 Centre of Excellence Awards

There were some very high standards set this year with hundreds of entries to the awards making it very difficult for us to choose our winners, so much so that the judges also wanted to recognise those who still stood out from the crowd in a Runners Up Category.

We are so proud to announce that you, Hilda, came Runner Up in the Centre of Excellence Awards 2017.

The judges chose a small selection of entries that came so close to winning when it was such a hard decision, that we thought we have to give them the recognition that they deserve, and you were chosen as one of our runner ups, so a HUGE Well Done.

You have shown real guts, determination and are an inspiration to the whole team at the Centre of Excellence, so we wanted to recognise your talents.

We are truly proud of the talent that you have shown. You are a huge inspiration to others and we would like to say a huge thank you for taking part in our awards!”

Eden Energy Medicine recognised by Federation of Holistic Therapists

It all started with a simple email a few months ago to the editor of the Federation of Holistic Therapist’s magazine ‘International Therapist’. I wanted to write an article about Eden Energy Medicine in the magazine or to present an idea to them – this modality is incredible and it’s important to raise awareness of it, particularly in Europe where it is still relatively newly established.

Only problem – Eden Energy Medicine is not recognised by the Federation and that’s a challenge as it’s one of the largest membership associations for holistic therapists in the country.  With thousands of members it’s well-respected and sets the bar for the highest standards in the sector. However I have always liked a challenge.

I was given the opportunity to send all course materials from the two year Eden Energy Medicine Certification programme to the Federation’s Registrar and Compliance Manager. So working in tandem with the UK and US Eden Energy Medicine programme faculty we got the materials to the FHT.

This week we’ve just heard that Eden Energy Medicine has been approved and recognised as a new modality by the Federation which means practitioners can now benefit from membership and insurance benefits, training and much more. It’s a fantastic outcome for Eden Energy Medicine and our clients as it helps us to raise awareness of energy medicine and so more clients can benefit from it.  I have seen and am seeing clients with cancer, hormonal issues, stress and anxiety, pain and chronic fatigue.

Please get in touch if you’d like a free 20 minute phone/Skype consultation about what Eden Energy Medicine is.

Shortlisted finalist in the Centre of Excellence 2017 Awards

This week I heard that I have been shortlisted as a finalist in this year’s Centre of Excellence Awards. What an honour! I studied for a Diploma in Naturopathic Nutrition with the CoE and it has really benefited both myself and my clients with the knowledge I have gained and broadened the consultations I am able to provide.

I find out if I win in the Inspiration category in September.

The benefits of avocados

Avocados, the named superfood, are one of the most wholesome and nutritionally dense foods available.

Rich in fibre, omega-3 fatty acids, potassium, magnesium, folate, copper and vitamins A, C, E & K, it makes them a hard choice to compete with. Avocados also have an abundance of B vitamins and provide long-lasting energy which stabilises blood sugar levels and curbs cravings which help prevent unhealthy snacking. In addition, they contain more fibre and protein than any other fruit on the planet, and have more potassium than bananas!

Benefits of eating avocados:

Aids digestion and nutrient absorption
Beautifies and strengthens hair, skin, teeth & nails
Maintains healthy energy levels
Beneficial for brain cells
Improves mood
One of the best foods for the immune system
Keeps you full for longer
Versatile in recipes

A simple recipe:
Smashed on toast with salt, pepper, freshly squeezed lemon, olive oil and balsamic vinegar (or if salad cream is your thing, use that instead).

Stay hydrated with Sizzling Minerals

In these hot, summer months it is important to ensure you stay hydrated – but did you know

drinking too much ‘clean’ water can actually cause a problem – the reason is it helps continue

the process of excreting minerals and other vital nutrients from your body – unless you put

them back!

As our bodies perspire in the heat, we excrete important minerals (sometimes referred to as

electrolytes) and unless we replace them we can start to feel weak and lethargic, in some

extreme instances long distance runners have been known to literally ‘drop down dead’ as the

heart has been totally depleted of the essential nutrients it needs.

People who exercise often (especially runners) not only need to hydrate themselves with water

but water alone isn’t good enough – it needs to contain minerals, but importantly minerals that

have an ‘electric charge’ ie plant derived minerals.

Some of the key electrolyte minerals are: magnesium, calcium, sodium (not table salt) chlorine,

potassium, & phosphorus; these all work synergistically together to provide the electrolytic

elements the body needs.

All of these and more are contained in our Sizzling Minerals and other mineral products – you

may have also picked up on the fact that these important minerals are some of those we

recently increased in quantity.

The absolute importance of minerals must never be underestimated.
