Massage in Totnes

Since moving to Devon 18 months ago I have been fortunate to have established a holistic health practice in Totnes. I offer massage in Totnes from the Arcturus Clinic and the Totnes Natural Health Centre. The three kinds of massage I offer are: Swedish holistic body massage, Indian head massage and Thai hand and foot massage.

I see clients with many health conditions including stress, back pain, headaches, fibromyalgia and soft tissue injuries. For two years I volunteered as a massage therapist in the Disability Field at the Glastonbury Music Festival, seeing 20 people with a wide range of disabilities during the four days I was there. This experience was deeply rewarding and added to the knowledge I needed to live and work in Totnes, which is at the forefront of bodywork and energy work.

Since then I have been recognised for my work by both the Centre of Excellence (finalist in their awards 2017) and the Total Wellness Club, a kind of TripAdvisor for the wellness industry. Last year I won the Therapies category in their annual Health Heroes Award which was a lovely surprise.

If you would like more information about the benefits of massage and are in Totnes then please get in touch.

Wishing you all a restful Christmas and Happy New Year

2017 is almost at an end. For some there will have been sadness and tragedy, for others joy and wonder.

Whatever has happened, I firmly believe that it happened for a reason and all I can wish is that you help your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual self by appreciating each moment of each day and revelling in the vividness and beauty of the present moment. Remember that you have the gift of life and live life to the full.

Big love and peace to all.

Float therapy at Arcturus

On Mondays I work at the Oasis Float and Therapy Centre in the Arcturus Clinic, Totnes.  Oasis is the longest-established float centre in the South West. I have weekly floats in the flotation tank because there are many benefits:

  • Reduction in stress levels
  • Alleviation of aches and pains
  •  Increase in human potential (as during a float you produce slow brainwave patterns called theta waves which can release creative blockages or may give you sudden insights and answers to problems)
  • Overcoming unwanted habits – the float tank environment has helped with problems such as excess weight, smoking, drinking and phobias.

The effects of floating are cumulative so the more regularly you float, the more effective it will be.

The water is full of Epsom Salts (magnesium sulphate) which prevent the skin from wrinkling and are detoxifying. Once afloat you are free from gravity, in a state of weightlessness, in an environment of warmth and peace so you can relax at a very deep level.

You can also combine this with a massage or try another therapy on offer such as polarity therapy, lymphatic drainage or reiki.

I have seen the positive effects on clients, for example one was hit by a car – it has been effective in aiding his nervous system to get out of flight/flight/freeze mode and helping with shock and trauma.

Complementary health for survivors of Grenfell

So it’s been six months since the Grenfell Tower Fire in June where at least 71 people tragically perished. The investigations and legal activity continue and at the same time Jane Lawson has set up a new team of complementary therapists called Complementary Support Teams UK (Therapists) which I have had the privilege of joining recently. This weekend I was at The Curve Community Centre located in the shadow of the blackened tower providing free complementary health therapies such as massage, Rahanni Celestial Healing, and Eden Energy Medicine. The survivors showed such gratitude it brought tears to my eyes as I was only too glad to help. I also helped stressed staff working at the centre when I had some spare slots. Here is Carmaine Walker, a child activity worker, relaxed after her session.

The survivors all have sleep deprivation – waking up in the middle of the night, night after night, survivor guilt, panic attacks, nightmares, depression and anxiety, pain in their shoulders as if they carry the weight of the world, pains in their knees, respiratory problems, shattered nerves and so the list goes on……..

In the midst of all this the survivors I saw are all still living in temporary accommodation with no indication of when they will be permanently re-homed. Most ate a reasonable diet before, now they are located in strange areas where they eat mostly fast food, have gained weight, feel lethargic and rarely exercise. The policies they are governed by sometimes change on a weekly or even more regular basis. Some lived in nearby towers which shared the same boiler as Grenfell and which still has to be replaced before they can move back in. They are not sure when that will happen.

There are activities being offered by other groups such as yoga, drama, balloon making – thanks Magic Liz – a kids camp but the atmosphere feels loaded with tension, sadness and powerlessness.

Today film director Steve McQueen will be filming the tower from a helicopter for a future non-commercial project where the film will be shown in a museum to stand as memory of the tragedy that was allowed to happen. And should never be allowed to happen again.

Lupton House’s incredible Christmas craft fayre

It was the fifth year of Lupton House’s incredible Christmas craft fayre which is now so popular that on one day the car park was jammed full and some visitors had to be turned away. I sold many signed copies of my children’s picture book ‘Donna and Dermot on the Move’ and illustrated by Jamie-Leigh O’Neill. I am so happy that they will light up a child’s Christmas. I also sold some soft toys of the characters – limited edition and handmade by the talented Beck Tallamy of Tall Amy Bags.

Speechless to receive Health Hero Award

I am completely lost for words – which doesn’t happen that often.  Total Wellness Club, which is a platform for therapists to be reviewed by clients – a bit like Trip Advisor – has just announced that I am the winner of their annual Health Hero Awards. This is in the Therapist category.

I want to thank Total Wellness Club founders Neil and Jo Fellowes for their vision for the wellness sector, their support for therapists and other health and wellness professionals and their all consuming passion.

As a therapist I feel that I am just hitting my stride so this is so unexpected. Thank you also to all the clients who took the time to review me.

Entrance and parking are free.

I will also be offering Rahanni Celestial healing tasters as well as massage tasters so give yourself some pampering after all that shopping.

Come along to this wonderful venue near Brixham and enjoy the festive spirit.

Reading to Syrian Refugees in South Devon

I recently read my children’s picture book ‘Donna and Dermot on the Move’ to Syrian refugee children living in South Devon. Some had only been here for  year and as the book is about the upheaval of moving, they could really relate to it. The book’s message is about living in the now as the best way to appreciate what you have rather than feeling anxious or depressed by thinking about the future or past.

The children created some striking artwork later, based on the book. Thanks to Integr8 for making this possible.

Rahanni taster sessions

Here’s me giving a Rahanni healing taster session at a recent wellness fayre. Rahanni means ‘Of One Heart’ and balances the male and female aspects in each of us, as well as releasing fear and negativity, so allowing us to feel more love and compassion towards ourselves and others. I offer free distant healing in Rahanni. Contact me to find out more.

Free Rahanni distant healing

I offer FREE Rahanni distant healing. Just let me know the name of the person who needs healing, where they live and the condition it is for.

What is Rahanni Celestial Healing?

What is Rahanni Celestial Healing?‘Rahanni’ means, ‘of one heart’. There is no separation, we are from one divine energy source.‘

Rahanni helps:

– Balance the masculine and feminine aspects of every man, woman and child.

– It is possible to release our fears and any negative energy that we accumulate from our experiences on this earth.

– It will help us with communication and to gain control over our lives.

The vibration of Earth had to be raised for the energy to be sustained, this has now happened, moving from the 4th to the 5th dimension of reality.

Carol Stacey, the founder of Rahanni, was presented with the gift of Rahanni by the ‘higher beings’ of light to bring this beautiful healing modality through to humanity at this critical time in our existence.

Rahanni is not based on one religion, it is our natural essence. Bringing balance to our mind and body.

Why is Rahanni different?

The difference is the vibration. Rahanni works on a higher level therefore healing in a much deeper way.

It vibrates on a pink ray of light, balancing the heart centre bringing forth love and compassion to each individual soul.

It is simplicity itself and can be taught in one day.The student is attuned to the celestial energies raising their vibration allowing them to become a channel for this wonderful healing light.

Although it is thousands of years old it is a ‘new’ healing for the ‘Age of Aquarius’.

Bringing truth, love and compassion, helping to change the consciousness and opening the hearts of every man, woman and child.

This will help to bring inner peace to the mind and a possible healing to the physical body.

Who can Benefit?

Everyone! Especially children. They are open to these higher energies. It has been known to benefit those children diagnosed with hyperactivity and A.D.D.

The client’s body will decide how much of the healing light is required.

It is understood healing of the physical body can be felt along with a possible balancing of the mental and emotional issues.

You do not have to believe for it to work, just a desire to receive and accept the energy.

Animals will also benefit, they have no problem accepting the healing light.

Rahanni needs to be experienced to be appreciated. If you are stress free, balanced and happy then you are strong enough to help others. Many people find their attitudes to life and its problems change for the better as a result of receiving Rahanni Celestial Healing. Why not give it a try?
